Weekly Weigh-In: I Gained 1.3 Pounds (and I'm Still Winning)

Let’s just say it: I gained 1.3 pounds this week and I’m not spiraling. I’m not panicking, not backtracking, not re-downloading MyFitnessPal for the 12th time this year. I’m just… here. Still on the journey. Still doing the work.

And honestly? I feel good in my body. That doesn’t mean I love every inch of it, but it does mean I’m no longer at war with it. When I think about where I started, over 75 pounds ago, versus where I am today, the growth is undeniable. I’ve been on this GLP-1 journey for over two years, and even though I’m still about 30 pounds from my final goal, I’m proud of what I’ve built.

Actually… I’ve made a decision. I’m officially changing my goal weight from 150 to 140. It’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while. I’m only 5 pounds away from my original goal of 175 and it’s wild to be this close but I’m realizing I want to keep going. Not from a place of obsession, but from a place of possibility.

A Summer of Maintenance (and That’s Okay)

If we zoom out, I’ve lost 2.6 pounds this summer. That might not sound like a lot, but for me? That’s a win. My movement dropped, I ate out constantly, and I still made slow, steady progress. That’s what sustainable weight loss actually looks like. Not every season is a grind.

Next week, I go back to work. And every year, without fail, that routine shift kickstarts my body back into weight loss mode. I already know my days will be more structured, my meals more intentional, my movement more consistent. So I’m not stressing about this little uptick on the scale. My body’s just coasting and that’s what bodies do sometimes.

Shifting Doses, Shifting Habits

I’m also shifting my injection day from Sunday to Thursday. The Sunday routine just doesn’t work for me anymore, especially with side effects like diarrhea hitting on workdays. Moving to Thursday gives me a buffer to deal with side effects over the weekend. I’m on 2.5mg now and feeling good there, no plans to dose up anytime soon.

Also: I’ve been slacking in my PEP app. I missed almost the entire week of logging, which is unusual for me. That said, I’m still using it to track my injections and symptoms, and I truly think every GLP-1 girl needs a tracking system like this. My code “Nyk77” gets you a full year for $30.

Real Talk About the Journey

When I started GLP-1s, I was what people call a “fast responder.” I lost weight easily those first few months. But the second half of my journey has been a slow grind and I’m doing way more work now than I did at the start. It’s easy to look at someone else’s highlight reel and feel behind, but this journey is not linear. It’s not fast for everyone. It’s not easy for anyone.

I’m proof of that. I’ve hovered between 178 and 182 for weeks now. But I know the effort I’m putting in and I know shifts are coming.

New Tattoo, New Season

This week, I booked my next tattoo: a dragonfly. I’m getting it on my collarbone to symbolize the transformation I’ve gone through these past two years. Dragonflies represent change, rebirth, and becoming, exactly what this journey has felt like. I’m a few pounds shy of the 100-lb-down mark, but I’m doing it anyway. Because this is the transformation.
