You don't need a perfect week to see the scale move.

- 186.7 low, down 2.3 from the week my ring was stuck.
- I forgot my lunch, ate the nuggets, and went back to my plan the next day.
- The weeks that hurt aren't the ones with one off meal. They're the ones where you disappear after it.
186.7.
That was my low this week, and you know my rule by now: my lowest number is my lowest number. Midweek I said I was hoping to see 186 before the week was over, and I saw it. The Sunday before, I was 189 with a wedding ring that would not come off, so that's 2.3 pounds down.
I want to show you the Sunday morning number too, because I don't only share the good ones. The day after Halloween, at the end of a long weekend, I was 187.7. And even then, that's still 1.3 pounds lower than the Sunday before. Same day of the week, same scale, a whole lot less puffy.
Nothing about this week was perfect
My Monday focus was simple: follow my plan as close to a T as I could.
Then on the very first school day of the week, I walked out the door without my lunch. I ended up with drive-thru chicken nuggets. And on Tuesday, I just went right back to my plan.
Halloween was on the plan too, candy included. I didn't pretend it wasn't coming and I didn't white-knuckle my way through it. It was a normal part of a normal week.
And the scale still moved. Which was exactly what I needed to see, because the Sunday before, I'd admitted that my real problem is staying, not starting.
What "not ghosting it" actually looked like
I think we picture consistency as a week where nothing goes wrong. That week does not exist at my house. Here's what it actually looked like:
I forgot it, I ate the nuggets, and I did not decide the whole week was ruined.
Halloween was planned for, not something I promised to "be good" through.
Back to my normal plan. No punishing, no skipping meals to make up for it, no "I'll start over Monday."
That's the whole difference. The weeks that go sideways for me are never the ones with one off meal. They're the ones where one off meal turns into "well, I already blew it," and then I go quiet for three days.
If you've been waiting for a clean week to count, I promise you, this is what a week that counts looks like.
I finally hit 10,000 steps
It took me the entire month of October. I finally hit 10,000 steps on the 30th, and then again on the 31st. The very last two days of a month-long step challenge.
I'm laughing a little at the timing. But I'm also really proud of it, because I spent most of October walking right past my walking pad, and I still finished the month doing the thing I said I would do.
So if you're late on a goal: late still counts.
I wasn't the only one
I read every single comment in Girl Code Daily that week, and so many of the women in there were doing the exact thing I said I struggle with. New lows they never thought they'd see again. Game plans for work trips and family trips. Checking in through weeks that were emotionally exhausting. One of them said she joined because she wants to share the hard weeks, not just the highlight reel, and I have not stopped thinking about that.
The big days showed up for a lot of us. Nobody went quiet because of them.
Walking into the holidays
November in Girl Code Daily started with our new challenge, No Ghosting November. One check-in a day, every day of the month, and a "not today, but I'm here" counts just as much as a great day. I wrote more about that here: you don't have to have a good day to check in.
And honestly, I have a really good feeling about this stretch. I'm taking Picky Girl HQ into it, I'm taking the Hub into it, and I'm taking the girls into it. That feels like a much better way to walk into the holidays than promising myself I'll start over in January. (If the holidays are already stressing you out, this one is for you: it's one day, not a whole season.)
HQ and the Hub are also easier to set up now. They live on one course page with a step-by-step checklist, and almost every step has a short video under a minute and a half. Both come with a yearly Girl Code Daily membership, or the Hub comes free when you get Picky Girl HQ.
What I do the morning after
The morning after an off meal is where my whole week gets decided. Not the nuggets. The next morning.
Old me would wake up and start negotiating. Skip breakfast to even it out. Promise to be "really good" all day. Push everything to Monday. That never once worked for me. It just turned one off lunch into a whole off week.
Now I keep it boring on purpose:
My normal breakfast, at my normal time. No skipping, no punishing.
I tell somebody, even if it's just "forgot my lunch, ate the nuggets, back at it."
I go back to whatever was already on the plan. If dinner was decided, I don't have to think about it.
That last one is a big reason I love having my week planned ahead in Picky Girl HQ. When I'm tired and annoyed with myself, I don't have to come up with a better plan. The plan is already there. I just pick it back up.
If you're in a week like this right now
If something already went sideways this week, here's your permission to stop waiting for Monday. You don't need a clean slate. You need your next normal meal.
A week with one drive-thru lunch, some candy, and a lot of getting back up is a good week. Honestly, it might be the most realistic kind of good week there is.
Why I share the not-perfect weeks
I could only post the weeks where everything went right. Plenty of people do. But that's not what helped me when I was the one feeling behind.
What helped was seeing someone else have a regular week, with a forgotten lunch and a busy schedule and a little candy, and still see the scale move. It made it feel possible for me, not just for people with perfect weeks.
So that's what you'll get from me. Real weeks. The ones that go sideways, and what I do the next day. Because that's the part that actually matters.
